Synopsis – Ghost in the Shell

Film “Ghost in the Shell” diadaptasi dari salah satu manga Jepang dengan judul yang sama karya Masamune Shirow. Cerita dalam manga ini sendiri sudah pernah difilmkan di Jepang dalam bentuk animasi pada tahun 1995 lalu. Namun, kali ini Hollywood akan menghadirkannya dalam versi live-action. Ceritanya mengambil latar belakang kehidupan Jepang di masa depan, yang semua sudah menggunakan teknologi canggih. Namun, tiba-tiba masalah pun muncul.

Seorang mayor polisi wanita Cyborg (diperankan oleh Scarlett Johansson) diturunkan untuk menyelesaikan masalah tersebut, bersama tim khusus Section 9 yang bertugas menangani kasus-kasus kejahatan cyber dan hacker. Mereka harus menghadapi musuh yang tak berhenti menyabotase teknologi Artificial Intelligence pada Hanka Robotic, sehingga sangat berbahaya pada para warga. Padahal, selama ini robot-robot itu hidup berdampingan dengan manusia.
