Di Eregion, Galadriel menghadapkan Halbrand dengan penemuannya bahwa dia bukan raja Southland, dan Halbrand mengungkapkan dirinya sebagai Sauron. Dia menolak tawarannya untuk menjadi ratu dan memerintah Dunia Tengah. Sauron mengalahkan Galadriel dan melarikan diri ke Mordor. Galadriel, Elrond, dan Celebrimbor menempa Tiga Cincin. Elendil dan Míriel kembali ke Númenór untuk menemukan raja Tar-Palantir telah meninggal. Kembali di antara Harfoots, Orang Asing dan Nori memutuskan untuk meninggalkan grup dan melakukan perjalanan ke timur ke Rhûn. Tidak yakin ke mana harus pergi, Orang Asing menyarankan bahwa ketika ragu, untuk “selalu mengikuti hidung Anda”.
